Running events don’t always have to be serious or competitive! After all most of us are not professionals and we run for fun!!
With the popularity of running and multisport events ever increasing, event directors are always looking at innovative ways to keep us engaged and active. Running and the marathon boom started in the 1990s and, year on year, has increased in volume. Further into the new Millennium the start of parkrun created an accessible, free event every week and the ever-increasing inclusivity and accessibility to all those who wanted to take part in some fitness activity. There is now a step-change from your traditional races.
Here are some races with a ‘twist’. Be it being smothered in colour or sliding down a giant inflatable slide these races will guarantee you have some fun while keeping active.
Inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi, which is known as the festival of colours, Run or Dye give participants the opportunity to experience that thrill of a colour festival.
Run or Dye is a 5km race held at Penshurst Place in Kent and is accessible for all types of runner. As you run; walk or dance your way around the course, you are covered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based powder-dye at each kilometre. Leaving your once crisp, clean white t-shirt looking more like the 90’s global technicolour t-shirts that were very popular.
At the finish, you’ll find a colourburst with a DJ playing music for you to celebrate your success.
