Description

Fordh Sen Mighal: A Pilgrimage Saturday 9th December 2017 @ 10am The one and only original St. Michaels Way race :Lelant to Marazion .12 miles! Britain's ONLY European Cultural Route. The 3nd time ever that Britain’s only European Cultural route will be raced. Exquisite trail running with a few road crossings across the inland of the West Cornwall Peninsula taking in the breath taking views of St Michaels Mount where the race will start near to,Trencrom, Ninnes Bridge, Knill's Monument, St Uny church and St Ives Bay, Mount's Bay and my personal favourite, 'Bowl Rock'. Wonderfully undulating sections such as Trencrom which stands just over 550ft and farmland that creeps toward the 600 mark. St Michael's Way is the only designated European Cultural Route and finishes at Camino to Santiago de Compostela, although we will be running the Cornish leg of course. The path has been used since prehistoric times, to cross the Cornish Peninsula and provided safe passage for missionaries who brought Christianity to Cornwall. These missionaries, who followed the Saint Michael's Way, and similar paths, are commemorated as saints in place names throughout the County. St Michael's Mount (The iconic finish)has a counterpart in France at Mont Saint Michel. Both sites have much in common in their history and legends. In particular, the Archangel Gabriel was supposed to have appeared at both sites during the Fifth Century  Discover the heritage. Discover where your ancestors once cascaded .Discover the Cornish life in trail shoes. Run like the wind and fly through time where centuries of life are still visible. Note: There are 2 major 'A' road crossings on the route(A30 and A394). Also there's a train crossing to boot. Dog runners welcome but misbehaved dogs and irresponsible owners will lead to no time or place and stopped from the race by any event crew member at any time. Every measure will be taken to ensure the absolute safety of every single person from runner to crew and oncoming vehicles. Mementos to all finishers!
