I will take part in the next race:
Add to My Upcoming RacesThe Maidenhead Easter Ten is held on a fast, flat well-marshalled 10-mile circuit which provides an ideal test of stamina and pace over this distance.
This was my first run at this 10 mile race. The miserable weather didn't help the day. Starting on a business park means there is ample car parking which was well marshalled. when I arrived the toilet queues were really long and this subsequently led to a 15 min delay to the race start. There was little organisation when collecting race numbers which meant I'd queued for a while before someone told me there were separate queues for surnames. A few simple signs would've helped.
The first 3 1/2 miles were just around the buisness park which wasn't much fun before heading on a pathy across fields and then on country lanes. Marshalls tried their best on a miserable day and there was virtually no local support. Water was provided but in plastic cups rather than bottles. I guess this helps keep costs down though.
At the finish there was a nice medal plus fruit (bananas, apples, oranges), chocolate bars and bottled water.
I believe there were many more runners this year fromlate bookings due to recently cancelled races. This caused problems with toilets. Maybe have a few more available for next year? Clear signs for where to collect your race numbers depending on surname would make it better. If the weather had been nicer I think this would've been a much nicer day. It's a big effort to put on such a large event so all in all Maidenhead Athletic Club did well.

Last minute entry following Reading cancellation. This is a locally organised, long standing race that is over an interesting distance and on a bank hol too!
Route is a few loops of the business park to start, you get a good feel for the finish straight (downhill :)) but then it’s out onto country lanes and through one field for the rest.
Exceptional marshalling especially as being so rural there aren’t many local people out - the ones that were were great though!
Mosltly flat but the railway bridge at mile 8.2 isn’t very welcome...At the end it’s a very good medal and real chocolate not some random protein bar!
Warning - car parks get busy so get there early and start loo queuing ASAP.
Happy Easter :)

This 10 milers is a real test - psychologically and physically. I love it!
It starts with a couple of laps of the business park and then heads around farm land and lanes, past the White Waltham airport, over the railway line through a field and a downhill last mile to the finish.
There is a lovely Japanese lady who cheers from outside her house and I have seen every year for 10 years!
And the tea and cakes, plus the massage at the end is brilliant.
A reason to look forward to Easter!
