About the race

Winter Trail Series Race #2

A gorgeous trail run from one of the most stunning venues around - the beautiful grounds of Wellington College in Berkshire. The 5km run lap takes in a mixture of manicured lawns, gnarly woodland trails, bridleways and private roads around the college estate. 1 lap for 5km and 2 laps for a great 10km.

Brilliant 2nd race of the series - and not so muddy this time!

The organisation for this race was really good - with toilets and changing rooms in the school rugby pavillion.

The race organisers and marshals were really friendly and supportive and the 2 lap course meant that you could work on running a negative split.

I really liked the sections through the woods - it was not so muddy this time, but very scenic!

And the sweetest thing was that a few weeks after the race an iTab arrived with my name and finishing time to go on the medal to personalise it.

Maybe more mud next year :-)

Muddy, Bloody & Happy!

From start to finish this event had a warm welcoming feeling.  A great route with lovely scenery ... and brambles that tear up your legs if you go the wrong side of the marker tape :-)

I thoroughly enjoyed it and will certainly return :-)

A great winter trail run

This was my first time doing this run. It cost £22 which is about standard these days. It was very cold weather (3 degrees) but friendly atmosphere upon arrival. The race numbers and timing tags for shoes could be collected on race morning which was easy enough. The briefing was just before the start of the race and it was clear, consise and to the point. There was a 5k and 10k which started at the same time. I'd have liked to see the 2 race starts staggered. The course itself was lovely. It was a fresh morning and despite the race name wasn't particularly muddy but very much off road. It's generally quite a flat route with plenty of turns but it's an ideal trail run. There were 2 water stops for those who need it. There was little local suppport which wasn't surprisng as most of the race is on private ground. However the marshalls were very supportive which is appreciated. Upon finishing you got a medal, mince pie and a cup of hot mulled wine - just what was needed.

The race is 1 of a series of 3 or can be raced as individuals (as I did). Overall it is well worth doing and I'll cdertainly be there next year.

Super dooper. BOOM.

Terrific event from start to finish. Stunning venue, friendly and enthusiastic marshals, great facilities (change rooms and showers too), hot food (mmmmmm bacon roll, yum!), massage (yes pls!), shop run by Runners Retreat (Christmas pressies sorted), mulled wine and mince pie at the finish, huge chunky medal, iTab to follow with name and finish time too.

10K, 5K and 1/2 mile options. Something for everyone, and dogs even allowed to run too!

Sold out this year so will be getting my name down early for 2018.
