I came at this race from a fell running background, but was keen to push my distance a little further in some pleasant Yorkshire countryside. The wintry weather the week before the race caused concern amongst some participants that it might be called off. It would have been disappointing if it had, given that I'd have been out running in the white stuff anyway that weekend and I've been out in far worse. Fortunately, Ryk shares the ethos that this is an extreme sport and so pushing one's self is necessary. He wasn't put off by the weather and braved the elements to mark the course. As it was, the snowy conditons were perfect for a lovely day's running in stunning countryside. The marshals were all extremely supportive with endless supplies of food and drink and the post run hot meal hit the spot perfectly. I thouroughly enjoyed it and will be back for more in the series.
