← MK Festival of Running

This is the first time I’ve ran this race. Registration was painless and easy, good value for money too. Communications before the race were good with clear instructions and advice for arriving on the day.

As an MK local I knew roughly what the course was like, both a mixture of roads, cycle paths (redways) taking you through central Milton Keynes. The course is relatively flat but in the last 2kms there is a little sting in the tail. If you didn’t know it was coming you may not appreciate the short sharp incline after running 19km. The route does get a little narrow at places but it didn’t really caused a problem

Local support from the Redway Runners and locals was great with a large crowd outside the pub in Woolstone handing out Haribos and jelly babies - great work guys. The course offers plenty of options for family and friends to spectate, if they hang out at the pub they see you pass twice.

Elsewhere the odd cowbell and vocal cheers helped me get around the course.

Pacemakers were great and delivering on their time promises

All in all it was a well organised event on a varied route that showed a little of what makes MK great. Great fun, ran a PB, met some new friends so definitely running it again next year, maybe the 20 miler.
