This is the 3rd largest ultra in South Africa and gets about 4000 finishers. The traffic to the start can be an issue and this year was really bad as due to road works and a new venue. There were also some issues with marshalling/traffic control on the day.
Aside from that it was a great run. The route is a challnging one with two major climbs (Saaarjie's and Kommando Nek) and the scenery is attractive along most of the course (as you quite literally run around the Hartbeespoort Dam). A highlight is crossing the dam wall. Those who've completed 10 ultras get a permanent number - and I was proud to earn mine this year.
There is also a half marathon and fun run.
