This is an annual event in Basingstoke and as it was local, only £15 to enter and in aid of a good cause, these were all good reasons to enter. The event consisted of a 5k and 10k run, with 2 water stops, all run mainly on grass at Down Grange and there was a good turnout of over 800 runners. Bib numbers were sent out several weeks before the event and there was adequate parking nearby. The event was compared by a local radio station and there was a good atmostphere with good spectator and marshalling.
The route for the 10k was a 2 lap course and was reasonably flat although the grass was a little bit long in places. I had competed in the Rungatwick half marathon the previous Sunday and felt a little jaded. Never a great fan of lapped courses but once over the halfway mark i was homeward bound. A medal, bottle of water and snack were handed out at the finish line for a good effort of 53.52- not my fastest. An enjoyable event and will do again next year
