← Kew Gardens 10K

I reviewed this race last year when I wasn’t impressed with the new route. This year it was a further update and the bit where you were running outside the gardens along the main road is now gone and it’s entirely within the gardens, definitely an improvement. It’s a beautiful route, the only downside still is that the paths are quite narrow in places and there’s a lot of twists and turns, if you’re aiming for a PB definitely go to the front of the wave. But it’s a very friendly run, well run by the team and it’s now a firm staple on my race calendar. The tongue in cheek tees have been fab and it’s a nice touch to have matching medals - I’m nearly there for my pie! Logistically, couldn’t fault any of it, but arrive early to avoid the queues as bags are checked on entry to the gardens which apparently caused a bit of a bottle neck later on.

Thanks for your feedback Lin. We aim to improve the event each year and do listen to runners feedback. We are working on the bag queues but it's a very difficult balance to check bags as an anti terrorism measure and keep queues flowing. We are working on some changes for this year and thanks for your feedback. Good luck on completing your pie! Race director, Tom. - RUNFEST LTD
