← Bloodaxe Challenge

This is a funny one! On paper, I suspect it is marmite - endless laps of the cycle track at the University, over 2 hours will either appeal or not. I did this as part of my training for VLM 2018 whilst I was on holiday and just needed to get the miles in . It ended up being a stand out training run for me! I went to the University when younger, so it was fun to go back (the cycle track wasn't even there then). We started in hailstones and it was freezing and I did wonder what I'd let myself in for. However, I loved going round and round! I think it's perhaps no matter your speed, you're never technically at the back after the first lap! It was rather novel. It gave you a great chance to admire others' running styles. I took my own water bottle and these were left on a table that you could easily access as you went past. There were some people dressed as vikings for encouragement at the start and during. I don't think I'll forget this race for it's sheer novelty value and it is a superb event if you're training for something like another event too. I'd like to do this again if I'm ever up this way. The organisers were very welcoming and friendly.
