This was a doorstep race and we had the advantage of doing a trial run the week before so knew what it had in store...
K1 - easy along the closed Marlow Road
K2-4 - a hill. Fairly gradual to start, a few places to get a breather then the last 1/2 k is pretty tough.
K4-6 - downhill. Quite steep in parts and actually harder in some ways than the climb. Last section is very much a tiptoe job!
K6-8 - through Assendon. Flat roads, very nice
K8-10 -the Fairmile. A pretty dull in itself straight road but slight downhill and you know the end is coming!
good points. Varied as the above shows, rewarding for the same reason, good support at start and end
not so good. Lack of marshals. This is very much the secondary race to the half marathon run at the same timeand it felt like it! Marshals increased for that one and it would have stopped a few people going wrong at the end and losing time. Bling is uninspiring and goody bag, not that good
Overall it's a lovely course, a real challenge especially the hill. Needs a bit of polishing otherwise
