The opener in the East Midlands Grand Prix series and a unique chance to run at the iconic F1 circuit.
I first did this race in 2017 had a fab evening so coming back for a return visit was always on the cards. The pre race registration process was very efficient and the race itself was excellent value and very well organised by Silson AC.
the facilities at the track were very good and parking was easy. Running on the track gives those taking part a great chance of a PB on a largely flat course.
My only gripe of the evening was getting out of the car park at the end. An unfortunate side effect of the growing popularity of the race.

The race was rearranged from early March when it fell victim to this winters endless snow.
I couldn’t do the original race but this date fell quite nicely for me so I entered when it reopened. The registration was very straightforward I didn’t encounter any problems and the race pack came through the post quite quickly a few days later. I did think £30 was steep for a half though particularly when you only received a pretty average medal and tshirt.
Prerace was very well organised with some excellent facilities at Warwick Racecourse. The baggage drop was very smooth with no problems. There was only a very short prerace briefing and were pretty much away on time at 9am.
The course itself was a loop around the Warwickshire countryside which was very pleasant and had plenty of hills to test the runners.
A decent race though which I’d recommend.

Just 6 weeks before London I though this race represented a good long run option. At just £16 for an affiliated entry it was I thought good value.
The race was based at the Knighton Sports & Social club in Knighton Staffs which provided excellent facilities for runners. There was good atmosphere before and after the race in the clubhouse with runners leaving baggage here during the race without any issues.
The course was a tough undulating 3 lap route of the Staffs countryside with plenty of hills to test the participants. Conditions unfortunately weren't great with the recent rain leaving plenty of water on the course, and the cold weather leaving the roads riddled with potholes.
With such a remote location, as I expected support around the course wasn't great. With just a few supporters in the local villages which runners passed through.
It was enjoyable day though, a really well organised event one which I would definitely do again.

The rearranged race from December 2017.
A really pleasant course which took you on a circular loop of MK through local parks and alongside the canal for a large sections of it. Well supported by marshalls and public pretty much all the way around.
Pre race seemed to be pretty chaotic though with huge queues for the baggage and toilets meaning the start had to be delayed slightly. Not great to be kept hanging around on a cold morning.
Well worth doing though, would definitely come back.
