Worksop half marathon fave half of the year

Really like this race having completed it 4th year in a row, it's a tough course with lots of hills but I have grown to like them ☺, registration is pretty straightforward but confused some people hence the 10 min delay at the start same happend last year

Beacon hill trail half marathon

Beacon Trail Half Marathon

The Beacon Hill Half Marathon is a gem of a race, I didn't look at the course map which would scared me I knew it would be hilly with the description some fast downhill sections...which at times was scary fast but what goes down...... The hills oh my days up down up down up the last hill near the end took everything to bimble up!! Not finishing was never an option and weirdly I loved it a lot the medal alone is worth entering for its proper big and you get a bottle of beer which went down very well

Doncaster trail 10k one to put in your race diary

Doncaster Trail 10K

This was a half marathon last year but due to constraints down to a 10k , I knew what to expect this time around a few hills twist and turns jumps and nettle stings but didn't dampen my spirits I loved it set off bit to fast but realised and settled into some sort of pace ish , the route is great through fields and woods there's a hill around mile 5 that you can see people coming back up I took advantage of this as I knew it was coming so over took someone on way up then the finish around the racecourse that's a killer on the legs long grass but I dug in and managed to pick up the pace for last 400 meters ☺ 7th position which I'm more than happy with

I would recommend this race to anyone whom likes trail/off road running oh and the weather was glorious glad I wore club vest

Tough course

I must say value for money it was very good half price of lincoln half marathon and you get more for your money. You got a medal t-shirt ice cream and a stick of rock these are a great touch..

The race itself I described as tough which in my eyes it was the wind (coast it normally is) there was a few tough sections but this was advertised as off road so can't grumble.i felt some of the roads was in the middle of nowhere and the wind certainly hit you near the wind turbines so I guess that's why they are situated there lol , I didn't really get in my stride tbh.. the finish was excellent again along the coast but people lined the sides and cheered you on for last mile or two.the Marshalls and support was really good

Will I do this race next year maybe

GrimReaper ultra 40 done of 70

The GrimReaper Ultra

My 1st ultra and I signed up for the 70 miles, parking is ample, you pitch your tent near start so you can keep supplies in for this multi lap event , 10 miles of undulating beautiful at times course from tarmac to gravel mud and grass surfaces , I did 1st lap ok then on 2nd started to get weird cramp pain in my abdomen not the toilet kind thought it was a stitch but couldn't shake it off, for 30 miles I put up with it couldn't take deep breaths  and kinda hunched over so couldn't get any form going even when walking very uncomfortable, in end I had to call it a day, the organiser put my mind at rest and consoled me I was devastated not to be able to carry on and do another 30 miles , I ended up in medical tent they was absolutely brilliant I made my mind up I couldn't go on anymore

I would recommend this race to anyone the course is a beauty yes it's a multi lap which not everyone likes but I saw duffent thing and views every lap

3rd year in row

Was cruising for a pb then wind happened really effected most runner's costing us about 3 mins , I like this course great pb potential the last 3 miles along the coast are great very scenic there are a few roads out in the middle of nowhere that can be lonely but once you get into the villages there is plenty of local support and the marshals are very welcoming

I would recommend the half as I haven't done the marathon

No Sub90 but a 5 second Pb

This is my 3rd year doing this race they changed it from Glanford park to the athletics stadium which was good the baggage collection at end was a nightmare they put bags in surname order I stood for 15 mins getting cold before I got up looked for it myself and found it , hopefully number order next year would be easier, course is flat and fast .... until wind happend added about 1min to my time, the support from Marshals and public was really good helped me through some tough sections this was my target half marathon but will try a autumn half to get that elusive sub90

Medal was great and the tech t-shirt was great

Thank you to the organisers top job yet again
