I competed in the Gauntlet race. The swim was a fun two laps, split with an Aussie exit. The bike course was three laps of a pretty hilly/ rolling hills, scenic and on good roads. The run was all within the castle grounds, another three laps.
As gauntlet entrants you also get a tshirtt, bag, meal, showers and massage after. So all in all very good value for money and a fun day kut
Very well organised too!

Swim- The lake was rather shallow in places and a bit weedy but not too bad. Very silty too so poor visibility
Bike- first 30km road surface was awful, really bumpy. It's not a flat course but is scenic. The road junctions were closed as you approached them which was brilliant! Made it much safer and less stressful. Shame there was so much rubbish/ gravel from rain on the roads.
Run- lovely route, well supported. 3xlaps
Afterwards- Amazing food!
Great atmosphere and very well run, very friendly

T1 &T2 are in two different places so if you're on your own it's very difficult. Preparing your stuff the day before is a very lengthy process especially when there are only two race briefings

The river swim meant it was really cold especially with the head wind on the bike. But the bike course is great and the run is flat. Well organised event

A great atmosphere and local event. Well run. The only problems were with the start times, taking over 3hrs from the first person to start to the last but that is due to it being pool based.

The course itself is fantastic. Easy to navigate and good for spectators. The bike course is on closed roads which is brilliant however there were just too many people on it at times making it quite dangerous.
They could also do with providing some more food/ refreshments at the finishing line as there was only water available and nothing else.

Being based at the excel centre means the logistics aren't great for both competitors and spectators. The pre race information also was conflicting and the pre race briefing missed crucial aspects out such as the second lap on the bike being shorter

One of the most beautiful races I've done but also the hardest. Incredibly well organised event. Only problem was with marshals on the bike route letting cars on the course when they shouldn't have as it made it dangerous.

A great race, well organised and well attended. Only suggestions for improvements would be to include details of the Aussie swim exit in the race pack and update the maps to make it clearer about the bike course on the second loop. Would definitely recommend it but do not underestimate the bike course!

Overall it was a well run event, there were plenty of toilets and everything was well signposted. The parking was to far away from the race start (a 25minute walk at a brisk pace) and you we also charged for parking. Considering the amount you have to pay to enter it was a shame that there were also no finishers medals and no inside seating available (it was open but you weren't allowed in for some reason). For those that also made the podium there was a very long wait for the prize giving ceremony.
Traffic on the bike course was also a problem, especially for the later waves.

The bike course involved a few country lanes which were narrow and gravelly. This made it very difficult to race on in parts. The rest was great.

The bike course was beautiful. Although there could have been a few more marshals at junctions. The run course could have done with some more marshals too at turnings/ junctions. The marshalls that were there were very friendly and supportive.
