This was my 3rd year of running this event on the trot having previously done the 50k Option. It was a last minute decision to run (to punish myself for a bad race last weekend) and opted for the marathon distance.
A choice of 13 miles, 18 miles, marathon or 50k theres plenty to choose from. The challenge it's self navigation round local villages off road with a set of short hand instructions and or GPX files (1st year they tried this). i have trained on the course previously, so know the routes.
The emphasis is to get round, join up with fellow runners and have some fun, well stocked but basic (water, squash, cakes, sweets, crisps and crackers) checkpoints every 3-6 miles.
Great scenery and the weather was glorious again today. The cater well at the end with massage, burger van, coffee van and an alcohol bar and can get a quick massage as well (bring your own cash) but loads of snacks, water and free smiles and congrats when you go over the line!
Would I recommend it? yes 100% whether you learn the route or self nav it, you'll have a great time. Also just £20 a pop any distance (unaffliated)
Would I do it again? done it three times now, I'm sure I'll be back again.

4th time I’ve done the event, and enjoyed all of them! Great communication from signing up to race day! Was a warm one this year so pb was out the window! The course is a tricky one with 2 laps the 1st half of each lap in undulating then 2nd half is flat. 6 water stations loads of Marshals on course t shirt and medal at the end. Loads of cake at the end too!

seamless organisation, brilliantly stocked checkpoints, well marked for easy navigation, a beautiful course which challenges you in so many ways
if the distance doesn’t challenge you then the trail will as you have to watch your footing on the trail adding to the challenge, you’re tested early on in the race with a runable flat section easy to run and race but don’t be fooled, after box hill, colley hill, caterham and botley hill await for you to test your legs!
great race swagger shirt and bling and fingers crossed for stunning weather

Great race, well organised, flat and fast with plenty of long stretches to build speed.
I had a great race neg split and just kept on getting faster all the time!
Organised and all troubles of previous years (short course, baggage issues, small signs) have all been answered.
This years nutrition partner was a weird choice, hadn't heard of them before and the gels they provided werent available to purchase in the UK before the event.

Loved the race, big city feel. Reports of baggage problems in the past resolves. Fairly flat but defo a fast course with some long flat stretches. Support in some of the villages was brilliant and in Cambridge itself excellent.

Myself and other half had previously booked for another Saxon Shore event but due to illness and injury we had to pull out and swapped to this event. We may have been spoilt with the glorious weather but the venue for this event is pretty stunning, 4.4 miles laps do as many as few as you want in 8 hr time limit, loads of cake and other refreshements on offer, all the volunteers were friendly, smiley and some had been there since the start and happy to see you every time.

If you're looking for a well organised race, grea bling and a fast course this is a great race. The marshalls were fantastic and very supportive, bottled water at aid stations too.
If you're looking for big crowds, exciting route... turn away now.
Start off with 5 miles of dual carraigeways and roundabouts before splitting from the half at mile 7. Takes you through a mix of scenic villages, parks, woodland paths and canals before the grande finalie finish in the MK Dons Stadium. Great bling and t shirt and top draw organisation and superb marshalls thoughout.
