Perfect introduction to swim-run-swim-run

ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Sprint Isles of Scilly

This was my first swim-run experience and I found it amazing. The Island is stunningly beautiful, the water blue-green and clear. The support from the local people is great. The whole athmosphere is frienfly and welcoming.

Event in iteself is extrmely well organised to the details, the course is easy to follow, the feed stations are well timed. My suggestions woudl be to:

1) practise swiming in cold/choppy waters. Even if we only had a short choppy swim, this is an island in the middle of the Ocean and anything can happen on the day.

2) practise exit and entering the swims with few big rocks and stones, and this in the waves..

I can't wait to go again!

Friedly Marathon.

This is a lovely course, a little hilly, but with good views on thwe countryside and to the sea. Few participants make the whole process of registration, going to the toilet and starting very easy and stress free.

The course is out and back, most of it on quiet roads, with feed stations every 3 miles and the opportunity of leaving your personal drink to be collected at each feed station, at registration.

Local support is great, the last hill, at mile 23 never ending. All together a very pleasant and well organised event.

Great trail run

Lovely one loop course, few narrow parts, so if you are super fast start on the front. Multiple surfaces and luckily part of the course is in the shade. Very frienldy event, perfect feed staions and beautiful scenery. This year was very hot, apparently the hottest day of the year, so it will be essential desptie the frequent feed stations to bring own hydration support.

London Marathon 14 years later

I ran London in 2003 and found that 2017 was much much better organised. Not as many queues anywhere, not for registration, not for the transport to get there, not for the toilets, or to drop the luggage. Everything went smoothly and was extremely well organised.

Fast 70.3 in a beautiful town

This is a beautiful event, in town,  most of it along and inside (swim) the Danube river. Swim is fast, only one loop linear and perfectly signed by frequent buoys. No real current sicne it occurs in a side bay of the river. The rolling start might work for some, like me, as long as one positions him/her self in the right wave time. Transition is fast, close to swim exit and to bike exit. Bike course consists of 2 loops of a pancake flat course, along the river with a little uphill to the castle. The scenery, if one manages to look, is beautiful and historical. Very fast T2, and the run consist of 4 laps of a back and forward along the river, completely flat. Very HOT this year, and hard to run in those temperatures, but it might vary from year to year. Plus there were showers and cold sponges and drinks twice per loop!

One has to plan how to get to the start in the morning since all roads are closed and the cars can only drop you 1km away. I strongly reccomend this race.

Great long-Olympic distance event.

Stowe Triathlon

This was a great race, where friendly triathletes of all abilities participated, and with a lovely challenging course.

The distances are not the classic Olympic ones, but slightly longer in both bike and run. The swim is in a welcoming lake, a little weedy this time round, but probably caused by the bad weather we recently had. The bike consisted of two laps of an undulating course in a beautiful countryside practically traffic free. For me, the best part was the run, along countryside path, soft under the feet in a scenic park. I didn’t mind at all the exit from T1 with the bike uphill a bumpy muddy road, since the organizers made every effort to make it smooth cutting the grass and using matts.. Overall: a great event.

Great end of season race

This is a hard but beautiful race. Hard because of the wind and climbs (Tabayesco is a 10km climb!) on the bike, and heat on the run. Beautiful because of the scenic bike route along the coast, up Tabeysco with magnificent views. The swim course is linear and good, but a mass start funneling after only 100mt creating some competition for space! Transition is super easy and fast and well organised. The run consists of 4 uneventful laps on a mainly flat course but with lots of support. The athmosphere of this race was really great, with all levels of competitors. I strogly reccomend it!

Good UK Half

Great race, but spoilt by the weather, freezing lake and pouring rain.

Swim: very well signed with frequent buoys.

Bike: relatively flat, not great surface

Run: fast, flat, soft surface, too narrow at times.

Super 70.3!!

Lots of participants, but amazing course and organization. Swimming in the sea, with beach start, different waves for age groups. Females all together, simple one loop very well marked swim, gorgeous bike only one loop including a 10k climb, and less exciting run 3 laps flat on very hot tarmac.

Welcoming, well organized and well suited for a first Olympic distance race.

Warm lake, super flat bike course only one lap, almost no traffic and flat run in open fields. Quick transition, a little muddy if it rains.
