Tough event

As the name suggests, this is a tough race. When running it, it was tipping down with rain, which made I'd a bit slippier and harder to navigate the obstacles.

The race was enjoyable other than the rain and it was nice to see the finish!

The medals are big and brass.

Nice event

This is a nice local event with a few hundred runners. It's pretty well organised with a bit of a walk to the start line. There is PB potential here and that's exactly what I did in 2016.

Medal is nice and huge! Would definitely consider running this event again.

Great OCR

Tough Mudder is seen as the best OCR out there, by many. The day is always enjoyable and the friendly and party atmosphere makes the day.

There are always new obstacles to complete and it's very much about getting around the course, having as much fun as possible.

Great party atmosphere

The biggest Tough Mudder events are always a party atmosphere. You don't get people pushing and shoving for the best start place as the event is not time based. It's about getting around having the maximum amount of fun.

The headband makes you part of the club and the beer at the end is much needed.

The obstacles are enjoyable and challenging enough.

Mind the hill!

An enjoyable race with a very big hill near the end. I had to walk up some of it!

The race bling was ok but I wasn't a fan of the tshirt. The route was marked out well enough although there is not much on course support.

A race I would do again.

Lovely event

Lovely event but some single track areas so make sure you start in the right place.

Nice event

As part of a carnival this run ends coming back towards the carnival where you are cheered on by loads of locals.

The route is looped in one part and has a nice hill towards the end. This was one of my first 10k races and I really enjoyed it.

Would look to do it again in the future.

Friendly affair

This is a very friendly affair with plenty of people dressing up for the occasion. It's just one loop of the lake for the 5k and a quick time can be achieved

Medal is quite nice and you get some trots at the end

A very tough race

This was a very tough race in the snow and ice. Probably the toughest 10k race I've done that isn't an OCR.

Marshalls were great and there was a nice friendly feel.to the event. The route is a touch over 10k and the mile uphill at the start can really take it out of your.

Great training if you are training for longer distances.

Tough OCR

This is a tough OCR, ma inky because it is a lot further than 10k. Of you're expecting 10k then think again

5k Version

I ran the 5k version after previously running the 10k. We got lost half way around as there were no signs. There were quite a few in the same boat.

Having said that, I did enjoy the course and it was tough (it's a lot further than 5k). The obstacles sre very raw compared to what you get at some OCR events, but this is about making you suffer more than anything.

Will one day complete the 10 mile one so I have all the variants.

PB Chance

Definitely a course for a PB. If you're looking for a quick time, you can definitely do it here.

The medal you get is nice and setting at the start and finish is also good. The parking can be a bit of a nightmare and I ended up parking on the road.

Nice event overall and I'll be back on November 2017!

New event

This was a new event in 2016 although was still well organised. The course is 2 loops of the park if you are doing the 10k and there are a couple of hills to navigate. Go out too fast and you'll get punished.

As the event matures I think it will improve.

Huge medal!

You get a huge medal at the end of this event! In terms of numbers it wasn't overcrowded when I ran it and the route around the back roads was quite nice. A few small hills to tackle along the route but nothing too strenuous.

The run back towards the hall is nice and the race is well organised.

Would run again in the future!

Extremely good

Mudnificent 7

This is an extremely good event. I signed up at at early bird price and the money was well worth it. The event itself, being split between 7 different race events made each km unique. There was something for everyone and some obstacles I'd never seen at an OCR.

The photos taken were brilliant and free! Looking to sign up again!

Great Event

This is a lovely event and just feels well organised. The pacers were welcome although you still get people starting in the wrong place!

It was a fairly warm day but this course does have PB potential.

The medals were really nice and marshalls very encouraging and friendly.

Would definitely run again

5k race

Ran the 5k as part of 3 races I was completing. A simple out and back through the tunnels and no complaints over the route or organisation.

Two Tunnels 10k

Ran the 10k version in 2016 as part of a series of 3 races. The course was out and back through the tunnels, which was welcome as the cool tunnel air helped with the extremely hot day.

The buses from the car park to the event were frequent and we had no problems from a logistical point of view. Medals are very much driving you towards completing 4 races so you have a full set of medals to build the final pyramid set.

There is no chip timing which is a little disappointing.

Easter run

Ran this as an easter run. A looped course so you don't get the uniqueness of a non looped course. Friendly event and some fancy dress thrown in.

There is plenty of room to park and there are no logistical problems.

Great Value

I got this event at an early bird price of £10 and that is great value for any 10k race. The medal is nice and the event is well organised.

The race is looped around Rockingham Race track and does lend for a quick time. With any race track race, you don't tend to get a lot of local support but you know that before you sign up.

Nice park style run

This is a 10k looped course around Croxteth park. There are paths but there is a section where its a little muddy. It had been raining so made it very soft

Amazing event

By far the best race I completed in 2016. The goody bag is great and the value for money is amazing.

If there is one event I would recommend to people, it's this one.

The best atmosphere

This is one of the best events around. Right from the moment you turn up at the event, to the end, it's just a great atmosphere. Having bands playing at various points around the race really kicks you on.  You have some runners in fancy dress and some running for a PB. Having pens at the start makes a huge difference and allows everyone to run their race.

The event is extremely well organised and it's no wonder it wins race of the year consistently. I will always try and sign up to this event going forward, although it sells out very quickly!

The goody bags are also the best around. You get very very good value for money.

Nice smallish event

Quite a nice small event. There is plenty of room at the start of the race for weaving in and out of traffic and the course allows for a nice comfortable race.

PB's are possible here.

Medals are unique and represent easter. Nice little fun run before the main event for the kids to have some fun.

Great Event

Loved Mare Drayton 10k, on my first time in the event.

Plenty of buses to take you from the parking area, to the start (although I walked). Very well organised with plenty to do for the kids and families who came with the runners.

It was a hit day so the local residents spraying us with their garden hose pipes was much welcome!

One the best atmospheres I have experienced with plenty of support around the course.

The hill at about 8k is not as bad as people make out, although I knew it was coming.

Goody bag is amazing.

My only slight criticism would be the start was a bit messy. The pacers were hard to find as I think people were initially confused as to where the start would be. It meant picking through the runners in the first part of the race. Didn't affect me too much as managed a PB

Good OCR introduction

A Tough Mudder half is a very good way to get into OCR events. I do think that the parking prices are a bit expensive with you paying an extra 10 pound for premium parking, which was only 100 yards closer to the even entry point.

The idea is to raise money for charity and we did that for SANDS. A couple of us wore T-Rex costumes too for an additional challenge.

Although there are events where you can get more value for your money, I would recommend anyone to do a Tough Mudder.

Slight logistical issue

The second time I have run this race and the start line has been moved from the Italian Gardens to the Monkey Forrest area. It took a while to get on the car park and the race start had to be delayed to make sure everyone made it.

The event itself has a very local feel for a local charity. There are lots of people dressing up in fancy dress for the fun run and some of the costumes are the best I've seen. Nice to see the Stoke humour has not been lost.

Unique event

A very unique run through the beacon hills. As the race starts at 19:00 on a Friday night it's a slightly different atmosphere. Everyone has finished work snd looking forward to the weekend.

It's very friendly and well organised. It has the feel of a local event but the organisation of something much bigger. I think this event will grow as the years go on.

Very hot

It was a very warm race so fluid was a must. The route was very nice although I think it was a little short of 10k. 2016 had a little extra added onto the end so the organisers probably recognised that.

Friendly event but just watch put got those segways!

Tough course

A very tough 10k but an enjoyable one. A very scenic route with loads of hills. If you are training for a quick 10k or a half marathon I think think this is the perfect race for preparation!

Posted on 12.08.17

Friendly event

Ran this for the first time in 2016. Registration was easy enough on this occasion and it's at a good value, supporting a good local charity.

Looped courses are not my kind of thing normally but the setting is rather nice at Trentham Gardens.

Would run the event again

First event in London

This was my first event in London and I was running it for prostate cancer. It was a very enjoyable day, the atmosphere was great and all the runners very friendly. Having start pens was bliss, as it avoided runners weaving in and out at the start. The route was unique to what I've done before but I didn't notice too much of it because of concentrating on the race.

I have heard a couple of runners didn't get heir medal at the end, due to the organisers running out. They have since been sent their medal so it was cleared up pretty quickly.

The support around the course was really nice and the event didn't feel overloaded with runners, even with over 12,000 participants.

The minutes silence at the start to remember the Manchester and London victoms was  impeccably observed which was a spine tingling moment.

I enjoyed the even so much I'm travelling down again for it next year.

Lovely event

This is a very unique event and one everyone should run. It's relatively short at 8km so not out of reach for anyone. The course is hilly but enjoyable as long as you pace yourself.

The cani-cross event goes 5 minutes before the normal race and the addition of dogs adds the atmosphere before and after the race.

It's very much a friendly atmosphere and if you park on the top car park, it's a nice walk down the start line.

I am running the event again next year, for the third year in a row.

Don't try and get off the car park

The race itself is fun and friendly and is a relatively quick route if you're aiming for a PB. The setting at the start and the finish is good, being the sports track next to the Ethiad stadium.

The only issue was getting off the car park after the race. Due to where the car parks are, you had to wait for all runners to finish before cars were allowed to leave. If I was aware of it beforehand, I would have stuck around in the stadium for longer rather than sit in my car.

Great Event

Cannock Chase 10k

A lovely route around Cannock Chase. This is a tough 10k with plenty of hills. There are areas where it is single track and so getting in the right place at the start line is key.

Support at the end is nice and the only problem I had was it took a little while to get parked. Not at all a big problem though

Would recommend the event to anyone
