Fantastic - I`ll be back

This was my first `half iron distrance` Tri ever and my first tri for about 12 years having only done about half a dozen sprints before! I nervously entered as part of 6 others from work and we were part of the120+ PSUK wave racing other coppers from around the country. From the start of entering to the end of the competition I cant fault the organisation, keeping us regularly updated and prepared with humerous emails. The venue was fantastic - although a little tight for parking. Swim lovely and warm, transitions easy, bike route fast with just 2 little hills and the run route scenic around the lakes and village. Support near the start and the village was great. A great event highly recommended and I hope to be back next year. Had a target of under 7hrs30 and smashed with 6hrs21 - not quick but good for me.

Excellent as always

Cotswold 113

Third time I've done this race and am back this year for the Classic in August. Keep coming back as it's so good and well run, and Mr Shouty in transition is legendary. The only disappointment was my own performance but that is nobody's fault but my own!

Great race

I couldn't have wished for a better race for my first try at Middle Distance.  My name printed on my race number was a nice touch allowing supporters and marshalls to encourage me personally.

Thrilling experience

My first 113 race.   Very very anxious about it and parking on race day caused slight concern as queuing to get in however once on site atmosphere and organisation was great, relaxed and best thing i have done, really pleased with myself but also very grateful and appreciative of the race organisation and support, helped me no end, doing familiarization day, attending race briefing the day before and local to me, so pleased to have found such a great race nearby.  Marshalling was very good, i did not get any problems on the swim, bike or hte run, everything went very smoothly which is paramount on a first race this distance.  swim was my absolute favourite part, that lake that time in the morning was beautiful, was in the second wave so got off quickly with little hanging around and really enjoyed this.  Not sure i will do this distance again, training was very hard with ful time job and children but so glad i gave it a go.  I would really recommend thsi event to anyone wanting to give 113 a go.

Great event, especially for first time middle distance triathletes

Great organisation and execution, friendly (eccentric) and helpful staff and marshalls, lovely location, great control and aid.  Pity about a few of the road surfaces, but nothing you can do about that.  If there is anything to improve, it could be to reduce the size of the emails, but I'd rather have too much than too little information.

A great event for a Middle Distance first-timer !

Cotswold 113

This is my second year doing triathlons, and after completing 4 Sprint Tris last year I decided to make the step up to Middle Distance this season. I don't think I could have chosen a better first event at this distance.

Great experience for first timer.

This was my first 70.3 and the various email updates in the lead up, the Familiarisation Day at the end of April and the optional extended briefing on the Saturday really helped with any worries or questions I had about the race.

Great experience for first time middle distance

Excellent organisation - had been to familiarisation day too which was well run.  Really flat course so probably set a time that I will struggle to beat.

Thoroughly enjoyable

For my first Half Iron distance, i think it went well. Having volunteered at 113 previously, I already knew that this was a fantastic event. Being in the first wave of the swim let me get onto the bike quickly. That ment that i was finishing my first lap as the last wave was starting their first. The cycling generally was very easy going, flat as a pancake, especially as I come from a reasonably hilly area. This course allowed me to keep a very good average speed for me, a very fast course. The run was a somewhat different affair for me, as it's not my best bit, and having never run a half marathon before, let alone running one after a 56 mile bike ride, lots of walking was involved. Though the laps rolled on and i was able to keep my last lap reasonably fast overall going in for a sprint finish, that i was forced to stop half way through because I lost my sunglasses, oh well. At 17 1/2 years old on race day, i think that 6h15m wasnt a bad time. Can't wait for next year. - Pirate LastMinute

Highly recommend any of their races

Graeme and his team have a real gift in making an event for 1000 people feel really personal. The e-mailed instructions were chatty and open. When I needed clarification on any points, my e-mails were answered immediately with detail and friendliness. The familiarisation day really put my mind at rest. We were able to swim in the lake, cycle one lap of the two lap course and run one lap of the three lap run. Registration went smoothly with an informal but informative briefing.

Always an excellent race

2017 was my third time completing this race and it's always been a well organised, fun event. Graeme and his team work hard to make it a quality event and are always keen to receive athlete feedback, which is great to see.

Loved it!!

I loved marshalled the Cotswold Classic in 2016 so was very much looking foward to competing in the 113 this year and I wasn't disappointed. Registration was simple and quick. I found the longer briefing on the Saturday really helpful and it not only reassured me but also motivated and excited me for the following days racing.  I found Graeme and Tony (hope I got his name right!!) informative and entertaining making any initial anxieties I had disappear. Race day itself was well organised, transition was smooth for me which I think helped as I didn't have to worry about queueing up to park, I can definately recommend camping the niight before!  I liked the fact that the swim starts were in waves and watching the earlier waves head off relaxed me as the groups were small and spread out so I didn't have to worry about getting kicked or swum over!!  remembering Graeme's advice I allowed the swim marshalls to help me out of the water so no embarrasing falling backwards into the water for me!!  The bike course was fast and generally flat, marshalls were friendly and supportive and signage made going wrong virtually impossible.  The 3 lap run was a mixture of terrain and scenery with plenty of variety which helped keep me motivated.  Aid stations were well stocked and the salt and vinegar pringles became my best friend giving me a much needed boost for the final couple of miles!!  I loved all aspects of this race and can't wait to sign up again I would definately recommend it for first timers and experienced triathletes alike.
