A lovely area and stunning backdrop to this triathlon. The event was well organised and staff and helpers were friendly and informative.
31 years ago, almost to the day (give or take a few days), I was sat in a Weymouth cinema watching a James Bond film – and that film (A View To A Kill) featured a spectacular and picturesque location now known to me as the Chateau De Chantilly. Fast forward those 31 years and I am transported to that incredibly picturesque location in person. I’m there to take on Le Gantelet – my first attempt at middle distance triathlon – the 4th event in the Castle Triathlon series for 2016.
Partipated twice. Always a great experience. Top event in France.
Just completed my first Chantilly triathlon - and I will be going back next year. The race was superbly organised with marshalls clearly distinguishable by their T-shirts. The Super sprint was a bit longer than advertised (cycle 23k not 20K) but the scenery made it worthwhile. Good water/feed stations in the cycle and the run and plenty of food and drink at the end. The finish round the fountain meant that everyone had a spectacular finish.
Very nice race (swim & run)
Briefing outside water, so we had very few minutes to swim before the start.
Nice Race in a beautiful place
Le seul défaut, ne pas numéroter les places dans le parc à vélo
Une belle aventure pour ce premier triathlon en famille !
Pro : the place is nice, the volunteers are so helpful (many thanks to them), lots of
- Spots in transition zone shall be defined and indentified for each competitors instead of free and random placement. This would give more equality and will simplify logistics and organization to all the competitors.
This is my second Castle trialthlon. After Castle Howard i had high expectations. Once again the setting was incredible and the marshalling of the bike rides were highlights.
Gauntlet 2016 competitor....
This race is held in stunning surroundings and yet again the great Castle Triathlon organisation and welcome was very evident. There is great support for the races and the crowds are fanyastic at cheering you all around the course. The swim is very good at allowing spectators to follow you virtually around the swim course, and it is a very pleasent place to swim. The bike course features in the main very good roads and very good marshal and police junction control, it takes in some lovely countryside as well which is always a bonus. The run is a mainly flat run, with a mixture of shaded woods and then open sections around the horse racecourse. Again fantastic support all around the run which is totally off road, though good quality paths and trails.
I have nothing bad to say about this event!! Off the back of it I would definitely race it again. Great course that was spot on for my strengths, run course mostly through a wood so well shaded from the heat. Frequent aid stations on both the bike and run. The course was well sign posted and the marshalls throughout were brilliant!!!!
Coming from Belgium, my wife dit it on saturday morning, my son later and I on sunday for the half Ironman.. A great moment for all of us even if my running could have be better ..
I've done a few triathlon's elsewhere various distances but this was the first abroad which was a little daunting.
This was my first triathlon that I have done. I volunteered the ady before with a team that was very friendly and accomodating. I enjoyed helping out at the registration and practising my french skills at the same time... it's been a while since a levels!
This was a great race in a beautiful setting. The bike course was a particularly stand out for me, nice and fast with great marshalling and traffic control form the Gendarmerie. Lovely 10k run route which thankfully was mainly in the shade as it was a hot hot day. Great event would definitely come back again.
