Wow, what an event! Stunning scenery and well organised. Support staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Will definitiely sign up again next year.
In my second year of entering triathlons I decided I needed a challenge! I signed up as the scenery looked breathtaking and I wasn't disappointed. The sea swim made for an interesting beginning to the triathlon, only being able to sight the bouys at the top of a wave added to the challenge. The bike course was difficult for a newby more used to the flat lands of London than the long climbs of Exmoor, but the changing scenery kept me distracted enough from the pain to make it back - even if the rain half way round left my teeth chattering at the end of the final decent into T2. The run course was a pleasant run out (very up) and back along the East Lyn River. The ground was rocky but nothing too tricky, steps in places helped with the steeper sections. A very enjoyable tri (now that the pain is a distant memory), well orgnaised by a friendly bunch. The only addition I'd suggest would be a little more signage on the bike course, especially on the longer straight sections where i became a little paranoid I'd missed a turn on a number of occations (I can never remember the whole course). Will definitely enter again once I've worked out how to cycle/run up hill!
Wasnt remotely ready for the toughness of this Tri, made worse by unlucky weather. Amazing course, very scenic, lots of climbing (the 1st hill took me almost 25mins), headwinds and rough road surfaces. Run was technical and hard work. This Tri is tough and not for the purest, but a real challenge and one for the bucket list. Well organsied, very friendly and good atmosphere.
What an amazing place for a triathlon. Swim at Lynmouth was nice. Run to Transition all good. Transition zone well located. Bike course was amazing - through the Valley of the Rocks was an awesome experience. Then some tough hills before getting onto the moor. Bike leg had something for everyone, with a quick descent back into Lynmouth for the transition. Run was great and very picturesque going up and back near the river. I aim to be back next year, looking at the Beast, on the Sunday. A great event!
not your standard "standard" distance by any measure!!
Positives: stunning scenery. Challenging! Great support in the transition area and at the finish line. Saw red deer on Exmoor and goats in Valley of the rocks.
First time participation and I loved it despite the weather. Great atmosphere, great organisation, great route and a great location. Nothing to fault really.
