I signed up online with ease and you can view full race instructions from the website.

I read the instructions the night before and noted that there were two different parking locations listed that were quite far from St Michaels School where the race registration was. We drove to both locations and they were both quite far considering we had two young children in tow. We ended up parking in a side road not far from st Michaels School.

Upon arrival at the school on race day I was guided to the main hall for registration and bib/chip collection. I was about 50 minutes before race start time and I was expecting a big queue but was pleasantly surprised when there was no queue and I was handed bib/chip straightaway - done.

In the school ground there was a small fete type thinking going on. It’s a smallish primary school so not massive grounds but they had some PTA type stalls and the kids were kept busy on the tombolla, lucky dip and bouncy castle etc.

Before the 5 and 10k started they did a children’s 1k race (7 laps of School field). I thought this was a great idea, £3 per child and entry on day only and they all got a medal.

It was a short walk to start line which was on a residential road. The 5 and 10k started at the same time. The route was fairly quiet residential roads and then country lanes 5k ran out 2.5k then turned and returned to the finish I believe. 10k we carried on past the 5k turn point to a water only station (bottles) at the 5k halfway point, ran a loop around the vineyard and headed back the way we came. The course was pretty hilly and was a humid day so probably not a PB course (not for me anyway
